NSF: OGSG Commences Renovation Of MKO Abiola International Stadium
Ogun State government has commenced renovation of the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, in preparation for the upcoming National Sports Festival, tagged, “Gateway Games 2024”.
Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, who made this known to journalists during an inspection tour of the Stadium, revealed that it would be closed for renovation to ensure proper revamping of the facility, to give the sports ground a facelift.

Hon. Isiaka listed some of the areas to be touched, including, the VIP section of the main bowl, the tracks, the pitch, the handball court and some other major areas of the stadium, saying new structures like the swimming pool section, would also be put in place for the Festival.
While reiterating government’s desire to develop sports at the grassroots, the Commissioner promised that the refurbishing exercise would be completed soon for the test-run of the facilities before the national competition in January, 2025.
