Remo Parliament Group Urges Caution: ‘Let’s Not Repeat The Mistakes Of The Pasts′
In a passionate and timely appeal to his fellow Remonians, Mustapha Yusuf Omotola, Acting Secretary of the Remo Parliament, has urged the youth to reconsider their plans to embark on a nationwide strike. Omotola’s plea comes at a critical juncture in Nigeria’s history, as the country grapples with economic hardship, insecurity, and social unrest.
While acknowledging the constitutional right to protest, Omotola warned of the potential consequences of such actions, citing the 2020 End SARS protests which ended in chaos and destruction. He also referenced the End Police Brutality protest in Remo, which was hijacked by hoodlums, leading to the destruction and looting of properties. These experiences, Omotola argued, serve as stark reminders of the devastating impact of violence and unrest on communities.
Omotola urged the youth to explore alternative, peaceful means of expressing their grievances and seeking redress. He emphasized the importance of working constructively with the government to find solutions to the country’s challenges, rather than resorting to destructive protests.
“We must learn from the past and adapt to the present,’ Omotola said. ‘We cannot afford to repeat the mistakes of yesterday, which only led to more suffering and pains that lasted for months.”
The Remo Youth Senior Media Aide, Comrade Bashiru Hammed Adewale popularly known as Honourable Prince Lahbash has also emphasized in this previous press statement, the need for collective responsibility in addressing the country’s challenges. ‘We are all in this together,’ he said.
‘The government, the youth, the civil society – we all have a role to play in building a better future for ourselves and our children.’ Omotola’s appeal is a call to action, urging all stakeholders to work together to find solutions to the country’s problems.

In a heartfelt message, Omotola appealed to the youth to consider the long-term consequences of their actions. ‘Let us not be driven by emotions and short-term gains,’ he said.
‘Let us think about the future we want to build, and the legacy we want to leave behind.’ He urged the youth to engage in constructive dialogue with the government, present their demands, and collaborate to find solutions.
Omotola’s appeal is not a call to surrender or accept the status quo. Rather, it is a call to caution, a plea for peaceful means of expressing grievances, and a reminder of the importance of unity in building a better future.
As Nigeria navigates these challenging times, Omotola’s message serves as a timely reminder of the need for collective action, peaceful engagement, and constructive dialogue.”
