Tears As Nigerian Military Buries 22 Officers Killed In Niger
No fewer than 22 military personnel who died in combat in Niger State are being laid to rest at the National Military Cemetery in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.
Our correspondent recalls that the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) on August 14, announced the death of at least 36 officers who were killed in battle.
The officers’ helicopter was shot down by some insurgents in the Zungeru area of Niger State.

The troops were deployed to Kundu village in Wushishi Local Government Area after bandits terrorized the area recently.
Some of the deceased officers had already been buried by their various families, remaining the 22 being interred on Friday.
Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Christopher Gwabin Musa, and other service chiefs are currently at the cemetery.
