“For over two decades back, we found it imperative to organise a central body to bring all the sets from inception, which by the grace of God I happens to be among the first set and the school first ever head girl in 1985.”-Adepero said.
According to Mr Somorin Kayode, the association secretary, “this administration achievements saw the government at federal level in the green chamber, Hon. Onanuga Oriyomi Adewunmi (Ijaya) representing Remo Federal Constituency, to come to our aid for building a set of blocks classroom as a constituency project in the school, but we still have some of our old students set that have been coming to do one or two things to assist the school in the area where the government cannot quickly intervene.
The secretary revealed that since the establishment of the association and especially the emergence of their regime, they have been able to do some few things in providing education materials, and learner’s furniture for both junior and senior schools, also still planning to do more in this coming year.
“A set of old students under this association also bought executive chairs for the principals and some printers for the school to use and some other things. Some have been able to renovate classrooms for conveniences and put everything in place to ensure that students and teachers are well taken care of in terms of their conduciveness needs within the school.
“Some also bought few magnetic white boards and markers for the junior school because they are lacking in that aspect and again the project is in stages, but then we still need the help of a corporate organisation because the state of our junior school is nothing to too much write home about in times of needs.
“When you go there now, you will see all the ceiling in the classroom they are gone, the students are learning under hardship; the floor, in fact the environment is not too conducive at all and we want to renovate some of the old buildings, their science laboratory and library to quickly come to the aid of the student.
No wonder, that the 2006 set ably chaired by the CEO and publisher of Eaglesforesight, Bashiru Hammed Adewale otherwise known as Prince Lahbash, make it their priority to also able to embarked on construction of a block of 8 room modern toilet (3 for male students, 3 for female students while 1-1 each for both male and female staffs) at the junior school.
“We do not want to wait for the government, it is our school and so we want to make sure that our juniors and children in Makun High School learn under a conducive environment and that is one of the reasons that brought us together today to give thanks to God for keeping the school,” Adepero beckoned.
