24 Hours After Fire Incident, BCOS Radio Resumes Transmission

Less than 24 hours after it was gutted by an inferno, the radio arm of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS), Oluyole FM has resumed transmission.

While inspecting the level of damage caused by the fire incident with the members of management team, the executive chairman, Prince Dotun Oyelade regretted the serious damage done to three of the corporation’s studios.

Oyelade, however assured that everything would be done to ensure that there is temporary semblance of normal transmission.

He cited three major reasons BCOS cannot afford to go off air. The reasons, according to him, are airing of commercials, performance of social responsibility in publicizing government programs and to sustain the Corporation’s tradition of consistency over the past 47 years.

The Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State was on Wednesday afternoon razed by fire triggered by a power surge caused by the sudden restoration of electric power by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC).

The areas affected by the fire incident were the studio where the station’s dispute resolution program ‘So daa bee’ is recorded, the make-up studio and the television studio.

Valuable materials and equipment worth millions of naira were destroyed by the fire, which was put out by the combine team of fire fighters from the State Fire Service, Federal Fire Service and officers of the Nigeria Air Force.
