Jalingo had written that a sister-in-law of Ben Ayade, the Governor of Cross River State, engaged in examination malpractice, prompting an accusation of character defamation. According to him, someone wrote law school exams for the wife of Governor Ayade’s younger brother, Frank Ayade.
Subsequently, Jalingo raised the alarm in a report that the Ayades, together with the police, were suppressing him with frequent arrests and threatening to arrest his CrossRiverWatch staff members.
