The Ogun state governorship candidate of African Democratic Alliance (ADC), Barrister Biyi Otegbeye has described the commissioned Agro Cargo Airport project by Gov. Dapo Abiodun’s administration as scam and deceptive targeted at scoring cheap political points.

Otegbeye spoke in Abeokuta in an interview with newsmen said; the airport project was hurriedly commissioned without adequate infrastructural amenities such as the runway, control tower, passengers lounge amongst others.

Otegbeye who commended the initiative of the airport project, condemned the politicization of the proposed Wasimi Agro Cargo Airport by Senator Ibikunle Amosun administration.

He stressed that, the abandonment of Wasimi Agro Cargo Airport by Gov. Abiodun administration was to short change the Egba division from attaining the full status of state capital without the airport.

He argued that, the neglect of the 250 bedded hospital constructed by Amosun administration was another testimony of Dapo Abiodun’s hatred for the Egbas.

“The airport project is a scam that’s just what everybody knows. Airports without a safe runway, airports without a control tower, that’s not an airport.

“The first thing you see, to know an airport is standard, one, you see a control tower in place. You see all the equipment there, but what he did was simply to score cheap political points.

And he gathered some people, his friends who have small links to quickly borrow some of their aircraft. This was supposed to be a cargo plane, the plane that landed, were not cargo aircraft. But let me say this and cleared the insinuation.

The cargo airport is commendable, not wrong, what I fought was that you don’t destroy the legacy of your predecessor. Just because you want to rubbish him. Don’t forget that, under the previous administration, certain investment I’ve gone into the Wasimi airport project in terms of preparing the grounds and then it came as simply scrap that and then started his own.

“The state is big enough to have two, if you must, so why killing one for the other. I thought that was cruel, and a disservice to the people of Ogun central.
