The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) has arrested a bank manager in Osogbo, Osun State, for hiding ATMs with unwrapped cash bundles.
The ICPC spokesperson, Azuka Ogugua, said in a statement released Friday that the cash bundles were loaded into the ATMs while still wrapped and as such could not be dispensed through the machines.
The affected bank was apprehended when the ICPC Compliance Team made a follow-up visit to the affected bank after a general compliance raid had been conducted earlier.
According to Ogugua, the ICPC team has ordered the wrappers removed and the money loaded properly.
However, when a follow-up visit was made the following day to assess compliance levels, the team found that one of the ATMs had yet to be filled with unremoved wrappers. The Bank’s Operation Manager was arrested and taken for questioning.

In another development, the commission said that the department head of another bank in Deidei, Abuja, had been taken into custody for its “intentional refusal to upload cash to the branch’s Automated Teller Machines (ATM), even when the cash was available and people were queuing at the ATMs.”
“When the ICPC security team stormed the bank around 1:30 p.m. to ensure compliance and demanded an explanation as to why all ATMs were not dispensing cash, it was informed by the branch’s chief of operations that the bank had just completed the delivery of the cash,” it said. the Commision.
“However, facts available to the ICPC agents showed that the branch delivered the money around 11:58 am and intentionally or maliciously refused to fill the ATMs with the money.
“Against this backdrop, the ICPC team forced the bank to fill the ATMs with the redesigned Naira banknotes and ensured that they all dispensed before arresting the perpetrator.
“Investigations are ongoing and the Commission will take appropriate action as soon as they are completed.”
