Court hears trial on Atiku’s prosecution on March 7

The Federal Supreme Court set March 7 for a hearing in the lawsuit requesting the investigation and prosecution of People’s Democratic Party presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar for alleged violations of the Code of Conduct for Public Officials, money laundering, criminal breach of trust and criminal embezzlement and conspiracy.

The lawsuit was brought by the spokesman for the Presidential Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress, Festus Keyamo, in response to the ‘Atikugate’ scandal.

Federal Supreme Court Judge J. K Omotosho on Friday gave the go-ahead to Atiku’s all-time trial in the lawsuit against him.

The court issued an “order granting leave to the plaintiff/applicant to serve the summons and all subsequent processes in this lawsuit on the 1st Defendant by substitute means viz: by serving the same to all adult employees of the Atiku Abubakar- campaign organization located on Ademola Adetokunbo Crescent, next to Access bank, Wuse II, Abuja or by sticking the same on a conspicuous part of the Atiku Abubakar campaign organization office located on Ademola Adetokunbo crescent, next to Access bank, Wuse II, Abuja.

“That this case has been postponed to March 7, 2023 for hearing”.

Recall that controversial videos were released a few weeks ago by a former Atiku aide, Michael Achimugu, who alleged that between 1999 and 2007, when Atiku was Vice President, he conspired with former President Olusegun Obasanjo to defraud the country using of what he called “Special Purpose Vehicles.”
