THE Hajj Institute of Nigeria (HIN), established by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), will commence its 2023/2024 academic session on Tuesday, February 7 at Hajj House, Abuja with the first batch of students.

NAHCON deputy director, information and publications, Mousa Ubandawaki, said Education Minister Adamu Adamu will declare the institute open and take the oath to the students, while the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Muhammad Musa Bello, will be special guest of honor.

According to Ubandawaki, the institute will begin a four-week certificate program for members of the NAHCON board on “Strategic Management of Hajj and Umrah Operations.”

The NAHCON Chairman, Alhaji Zikrullah Hassan, expressed his joy at the start of the institution and urged all stakeholders to work together to elevate the institution.

“We hasten to congratulate all our stakeholders on the achievement we were able to achieve. We cannot claim to have achieved this alone. As such, we recognize the contributions of the past board.

“I would therefore implore all stakeholders to work together as building partners to elevate this institution to the highest level, even as we will do everything we can to ensure that the sense of appreciation of future Hajj managers is uncompromisingly maintained. Hassan said.

The HIN is one of the main agendas of the current NAHCON board with the vision of building professional hajj managers to manage the hajj in the future.

The idea of establishing a hajj institution is embodied in NAHCON Establishment Act 2006 and has been at the forefront of successive boards of the commission.

However, it witnessed a faster pursuit in 2020 when the hajj body got the preliminary approval from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to establish the institution.
