CBN cashless policy causes hardship for citizens
Niger State Governor Abubakar Bello has stated that the cash policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria and the refurbishment of the naira has caused untold hardship to the people.
Bello made this known in a statement issued by the secretary of the state government, Ibrahim Matane, in Minna, the state capital, on Thursday.
He stated that the shortage of cash in circulation had led to the closure of businesses in the state, especially in rural areas.
“Due to the shortage of cash in circulation and the lack of the newly designed banknotes, which resulted in the closure of rural markets and several shops in the urban cities, causing hardship.”
Bello further stated that citizens have experienced the most difficult challenges in recent days trying to comply with the policy.
“The government is aware that the situation has been the most difficult experience in recent days, as many Nigerlites have faced difficulties in going through the process.”
He also stated that the scarcity of the redesigned naira notes is the policy that is affecting the people all the more.
“Governor Sani Bello is deeply moved by the attendant consequences of the policies affecting citizens, especially the scarcity of the naira bill.
Bello sympathized with the people as he assured them that the state government is working around the clock to ease the hardship so that normality would resume.
