Tinubu distances himself from the failure of APC – Atiku’s assistant

Phrank Shaibu, a special assistant for public communications, to People’s Democratic Party presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has said that by criticizing the regime of the president, Major General Muhammad Buhari (ret.) is trying to distance himself from the failures of the APC, which he had vigorously defended since 2015.

The special adviser made the announcement on Wednesday when he responded to Tinubu’s latest comment on Buhari’s regime at the Calabar rally on Tuesday.

He quoted Tinubu as saying, “Today they moved the exchange rate from N200 to N800. If they fixed it, if they arrested this, we wouldn’t be where we are today, we would be bigger. They don’t know the way, they don’t know how to think, they don’t know how to do it.”

Recall that Tinubu had made some vehement remarks earlier in Abeokuta about the scarcity of the new naira notes and the shortage of petrol.

In a press release, Shaibu said: “Tinubu has been disingenuously criticizing President Buhari, trying to free himself from the failures of the APC that he had vigorously defended for the past eight years. Nigerians must not be fooled by this charlatan who now pretends to be on the side of the masses.

“It’s funny that Tinubu, who has proudly held the position of national leader of the APC for the past eight years, was able to throw the president under the bus in his failed and desperate quest for power.

“Tinubu is the APC, mind, soul and body. He was the national leader of the party even before Buhari became the presidential candidate. Is it possible for a snail to deny its own shell? Tinubu must give up this villainous act and take responsibility for his party’s failures over the past eight years. His latest outburst is nothing but diversionary tactics.

“This is the kind of person that Tinubu is. He is a user who throws his friends under the bus when the going gets tough. Nigerians have been facing a fuel shortage for almost a year now. Why is Tinubu only talking about it now that there are elections in a few days?

“Why is Tinubu just attacking Buhari’s policies, many of which have been in place for years? In any case, at the 65th Tinubu Symposium on March 28, 2017, the former Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun said that the Buhari regime used Tinubu’s economic policies. So why is Tinubu suddenly trying to distance himself from his own failed policies?

He continued, “Ahmad Lawan, who openly supported Tinubu, is the current Senate Speaker and godson Femi Gbajabiamila is the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Both of them, who are proud stamps, unquestionably approved all of Buhari’s loans, further weakening the currency. Where was Tinubu when this happened?

“Yemi Osinbajo, who was Tinubu’s commissioner for eight years, also led Buhari’s economic team and chaired the National Economic Council by virtue of his position as vice president. Where was Tinubu when the policy was implemented? Why didn’t he speak?”
