The Osun State government has said it has approved the use of Osogbo Township Stadium for the presidential meeting of the All Progressives Congress on Thursday.

In a statement signed by the governor’s spokesman, Olawale Rasheed, received on Wednesday, the government reminded that the immediate previous governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, did not approve of such uses for the People’s Democratic Party when he was in power.

It explained that the stadium was approved to manage the tense security atmosphere in the state and directed security agencies to ensure maximum security at the rally venue.

“Consequently, State Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke has directed the State Police Command and Department of State Services to enforce state directives to ensure peace and tranquility throughout the state. In addition, the governor of the state ordered the indigenous people of Osun to remain peaceful and calm, while at the same time warning against any attempt to create conflict,” it continued.

Meanwhile, the government called on residents of the state to stay away from the APC presidential meeting.

“The APC has imported their agents of deaths. Chances are they’re going to fight and fight. It is important for our people to stay safe, away from the collection of evil hands,” the statement concluded.

Meanwhile, the APC leadership in Osun had accused the PDP and Adeleke of planning to kidnap some key members and families of the party in the state. The plan, the party claimed, was to upset APC before the general election.

The Acting President of the APC, Mr. Tajudeen Lawal also said in a statement that Adeleke and his party members should know that no undercurrent settlement would secure him the gubernatorial election after losing his case in the tribunal last Friday.

Lawal ordered the state police and other security services in the state to learn of the embattled governor’s “diabolical intentions” and find a credible way to nip the inglorious and nebulous plan in the bud.

Lawal promised to use all available constitutional means to expose the intentions of Adeleke and his lieutenants, intended to create more tension in the country.

The statement read in parts: “The sooner Adeleke reverses its step in using some notorious political outlaws in this state to kidnap, maim and assault our members and our families, the better it would be.”
