Your strategy to work against Abiodun will fail – the group tells Amosun
One group, Ogun Political Watch, has said any strategy deployed by former Ogun state governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun to thwart Prince Dapo Abiodun’s victory will fail.
The group urged Amosun to stop spreading untruths against Abiodun.
The group made this statement in a statement released Wednesday by its secretary, Alhaji Wahab Adeyemi, in Abeokuta.
In response to the various accusations leveled Wednesday by the senator against Governor Abiodun during the African Democratic Congress (ADC) gubernatorial campaign in the state, the group described Amosun as a disgruntled and desperate politician who could not get over his failure to be a stooge with Oke Mosan for governor in 2019 and secure a return ticket to the Senate in last year’s All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries.
It noted that after failing miserably to live up to his outrageous ambition, the senator pitched in to a moribund political party and an extremely weak candidate, adding that they will both fail miserably in the upcoming election.
It read: “Oddly enough, the same Biyi Otegbeye who now supports Amosun was the APC House of Reps candidate in his constituency in 2019 and Amosun fought tooth and nail to defeat his ambition.
“Now, because the man has decided to share with him the patrimony of Ogun State, he has decided to support him, but they will both fail miserably.”
The group described Senator Amosun’s claim that Governor Abiodun spent N3bn on restoring the model schools he (Amosun) built with N830 million as blatantly laughable. already shown that expenditure on the said schools was less than 5 percent of the figure he (Amosun) quoted.
It read: “Amosun jokes about unrealistic numbers out of his desperate ambition to poke fun at Governor Abiodun, who has clearly surpassed his eight-year performance in just four years.
“Was Amosun really talking about the so-called model schools that failed the structural integrity test and couldn’t accommodate any student?
“The Abiodun government had to convert those of them who were reasonably habitable into isolation centers during the COVID-19 crisis.
It is unconscionable for an APC senator to repeat the anti-party activities he carried out much to his disgrace in 2019, spreading false numbers out of sheer mischief, and with the intent to implicate another political party’s nominee in feature while he remains in APC as a Senator.
“We invite the APC leadership to rebuke Amosun as he and his ADC henchman fade into political obscurity,” the statement said.
