Arsenal mercenary Balogun replaces Mbappé as Ligue 1 top scorer
Folarin Balogun, 21, on loan from Arsenal, has become top scorer in Ligue 1 ahead of Paris Saint-Germain stars Kylian Mbappé and Neymar after scoring a hat-trick for Reims.
Balogun took his hat-trick against Lorient on Wednesday, scoring 14 goals in just 18 starts.
He scored just before half-time and twice in quick succession midway through the second half. He could be in contention with Mbappé for the Golden Boot in Ligue 1 this season.
The striker has now scored five goals in his last three games, including a dramatic late equalizer against PSG.
No U-21 player in Europe’s five major leagues has scored as many goals as Balogun this season.
Balogun was loaned out to Middlesborough before also joining Reims on loan this season
