The New Nigeria Peoples Party says its presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has not met or discussed a working relationship with his Peoples Democratic Party counterpart, Atiku Abubakar, or his representatives, in view of the 2023 presidential election.

Kwankwaso/NNPP Presidential Campaign Council spokesman Ladipo Johnson made this known in a statement he made in Abuja on Wednesday.

Johnson said it was clear Kwankwaso finished the race stronger than other presidential candidates, especially Atiku.

He said this was obvious as Abubakar “appeared to be gasping for air as his platform crumbles and is looking for a sturdy branch to hold on to!”

Johnson said his response was important because of Abubakar’s statement that he was “in contact with Kwankwaso”.

He said the response was also crucial because of false statements on social media that three million members of the Kwankwasiyya movement in the northeast had moved to the PDP.

The spokesperson described it as orchestrated actions by Atiku’s campaign to pass a false and mischievous story to Nigerians that Kwankwaso joined his team.

Johnson said: “The fact is that neither Atiku and Kwankwaso nor their representatives met privately or at all to discuss a working relationship.

“They have only met at town hall meetings in recent months!

“Nigerians will remember that earlier in the campaign the false narrative pushed was that Kwankwaso was only strong in Kano!

“He suddenly has three million members leaving him in the Northeast?”

Johnson reiterated that Kwankwaso was not stepping down for or cooperating with any of the candidates or Atiku Abubakar.

“We are in this race to win and raise the standard of living of all Nigerians.

“Detractors who have seen Kwankwaso’s ground game and grassroots campaign now understand, 24 days to the polls, that grassroots voters, the average man and woman, have decided to vote for Kwankwaso and the NNPP as their favorite party. ,” Johnson claimed.
