INEC deploys 3,508 BVAS, conducts mock accreditation on February 4 in Kogi
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has deployed no less than 3,508 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) for the 2023 General Election in Kogi State.
The election body then announced Saturday, February 4, 2023 for bogus accreditation of voters using BVAS in three senatorial districts in Kogi state.
The head of INEC’s Voter Education Department in Kogi State, Haliru Haruna Sule, made the announcement on Wednesday while appearing on a current affairs program on a private radio station in Kogi State.
Sule stated that the Commission has set aside a lot of spare BVAS in case a system failure occurs during the election period.
Fake accreditation will take place in six local government areas in the state, according to INEC officials.

They are Lokoja, Kabba Bunu, Okene, Ajaokuta, Dekina and Ibaji Local Government Area.
“Each voter has digital identities. The BVAS is intended for the accreditation of voters and the testing of voter biometrics. We deliberately choose a number of local governments, especially in Ibaji, which we believe has the most remote polling stations in Kogi state, and Ibaji residents are predominantly farmers.
“Most of them do forced labor and we think that the BVAS should be tested there. If they can’t be verified with their fingerprint, they can be verified with their facials. We want to make sure their footprint is verified. We want to practically test the battery life of the BVAS.
“On Election Day, elections should start at 8:30 am and end at 2:30 pm. But the rule says all the people in line are either 200, you have to take care of them. You can’t say because it’s 2:30 PM that you won’t come to them. You must be present with those who are in line. It’s part of what we want to test between 8:30 a.m. and between 5 p.m. or 6 p.m. and more,” he said.
