Ondo APC, PDP, SDP leaders defect to LP
A few weeks before the general election, members and leaders of some major political parties in Ondo state defected to the Labor Party.
The defectors are from the All Progressives Congress, the Peoples Democratic Party and the Social Democratic Party in the state’s Akoko South-East/Akoko South-West Federal Constituency.
At the event, held at Isua Akoko, the headquarters of the state’s Akoko South-East Local Government Area, the defectors also expressed their support for the LP’s presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi.
One of the defectors’ leaders and former House of Representatives aspirant from the APC, Mr. Stephen Adeyeri, said Obi’s impeccable record coupled with his detailed manifesto outlining the solutions to myriad challenges facing the nation made him and his supporters to join the Labor Party and openly expressed strong support for the presidential candidate.
Adeyeri, predicting a landslide victory for Obi, said Nigerians had had enough of the two major political parties (the PDP and the APC), which he said had failed miserably in the management of the nation’s affairs. He stressed that the only better alternative was the LP.
He said: “Obi is the candidate to beat because he has proven himself competent among other candidates. His records, although he held sway in Anambra, are in the public domain, he got all that not through subterfuge, but through hard work .
“I’m here to sell Obi’s candidacy to my supporters, and I told them the reason why he should be elected, especially his plans to take the country from consumption to production.”
In his view, it takes a skillful hand to change the fate of the country for the better. He pointed out that the solution to the myriad challenges ranging from fuel scarcity, lack of electricity, hunger and a host of others plaguing residents would soon be a thing of the past if Peter Obi were elected president of the country.
Adeyeri noted that it would be “absurd if those who weaponized poverty on innocent citizens got their way again”, and urged supporters to vote for all party (Labour Party) candidates in the upcoming general election. to vote.
Earlier, the State Secretary of the LP, Mr. Agabje Abiodun, who welcomed the defectors from APC, PDP and SDP into the party, campaigning them vigorously for the LP in the corners of the state.
He stated that the immediately former governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, had performed commendably well when he governed the Sunshine State from 2009-2014 under the Labor Party platform, and therefore the Labor Party should be voted on by antecedents.
He said: “Labour Party is the only fast-growing party in Nigeria; we can see people banding together to join the movement of the Obi. When Mimiko was governor, can you compare his behavior with that of the current government, which has failed to meet the expectations of the people?
“People are tired of the current situation. Adeyeri has said it all, residents are suffering, no fuel, high prices of food products, among other things, make everyone difficult, even the APC members lament the ostentatious hardship.
