The African Democratic Congress Abia State on Tuesday evening suspended its gubernatorial candidate for the upcoming election, Bishop Sunday Onuoha, and three other candidates.

This was when the party declared its willingness to support a candidate for governor from another political party in the state.

Addressing journalists after a meeting of the State Work Committee, Abia ADC Chairman, Norman Obinna, revealed that others included: Abraham Godson, candidate for Abia Central Senatorial District; Iyke Nwoke, candidate for the Umuahia Central State Constituency; and a Mr. Osita Offor.

Obinna said Methodist Church cleric Sunday Onuoha was suspended for violating Article 22 of the party’s constitution by engaging in “acts and conduct which have brought hatred, discredit and public ridicule to the party, and have been guilty of unauthorized publicity of party conflicts (using his radio station) and of splitting and creating parallel party organs.”

The party, he said, further decided it would no longer tolerate Onuoha’s excesses.

The party leader said that while Godson was suspended for openly endorsing Labor Party presidential candidate Mr Peter Obi and belittling the ADC Party presidential candidate on a state radio station, Nwoke cheated the party when he failed to meet the party disclosed that he had previously obtained a nomination form under the People’s Democratic Party, and ran in the PDP primaries and failed.

Nwoke also allegedly engaged in activities that caused discontent among party members when he unlawfully removed ward chairmen from local government areas within his constituency.

The other person, Osita Offor, a wrestler, was also suspended for parading as the party’s Abia North senate candidate, instead of Sir Martins Emetu, whose name was published by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Explaining further, the Abia ADC chairman said his goal was to bring good governance to Abia, but the choice of Onuoha as the gubernatorial candidate halted the plan because Onuoha had a different motive when he entered the party.

He said Onuoha’s suspension from the ADC was to inform Abians of his activities and to let them know that Onuoha was not contesting an election under the ADC “but stood as a single entity due to his incessant distraction from the party.

“Onuoha destroyed the entire structure of the ADC in Abia state. He is planted as a mole to distract us and does not participate in elections.

“He didn’t rent any campaign office or form a campaign committee, no billboard of Onuoha anywhere, and we didn’t know when he picked his deputy.

“He has contributed nothing to the party, but he charges all House of Representatives candidates to support him financially and he entered the party with so much deceit that he would use his Vision Africa Radio to raise money for his governorship race, but it was all lies.

“We hear stories about roosters and bulls every day. He shows no sign of seriousness and the party cannot remain silent, hence the decision to suspend him.”

According to Obinna, Abians should not take Onuoha seriously as the party had distanced itself from him, adding that the party would soon hire and support a gubernatorial candidate from another political party who was more credible, reliable and suitable to govern Abia, emphasizing that “Anyone who lies in small things should not be entrusted with positions of leadership.”

The State Coordinator of Election Affairs and INEC Liaison, Mr. Onwuasoanya Emole, said it was time to inform Abians about Onuoha’s anti-party activities, stating that the party members and the executive could no longer trust him to act under the party. walk.

The suspension of Onuoha and the other three candidates, he said, was appropriate and followed suit, as they all violated Article 22 of the party’s constitution.

Meanwhile, Onuoha has rejected the alleged suspension, stating that the people who allegedly suspended him have already been suspended by the party.
