The campaign organization Obi-Datti has announced that Labor Party presidential candidate Peter Obi is not in talks with People’s Democratic Party candidate Atiku Abubakar over a possible alliance.

The PUNCH reports that Atiku alluded to his willingness to work with Obi and New Nigerian People’s Party candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso after meeting with the duo to support his ambition in the upcoming election.

Atiku announced this on Tuesday in a 15-minute interview with BBC Hausa.

Atiku spoke to the interviewer in Hausa language and said that neither Obi nor Kwankwaso posed any threat to his chances of winning at the Feb. 25 poll.

“While I don’t see a threat in any of them, we are in talks and the discussion may produce a positive outcome that one of them will come through.”

But respond to the claim on Wednesday in an exclusive chat with The PUNCHObi-Datti campaign spokesperson Yunusa Tanko said those claiming the alliance are merely trying to exploit Obi’s popularity.

“Since yesterday, before we left Numan, there was nothing of the sort. We are busy with campaigns. We are not aware of such a thing as an alliance.

“I think someone is just trying to cash in the Obi-Datti ticket. We are now campaigning in Sokoto and we will be in Zamfara.

Attempts to get the New Nigeria Peoples Party spokesperson were futile as he was not answering his calls at the time this report was filed.
