The Bauchi LP campaign director dumps Obi for Atiku
Bauchi State Labor Party campaign manager Alhassan Bawu has dumped the party’s presidential candidate Peter Obi for People’s Democratic Party candidate Atiku Abubakar.
This comes barely three weeks before the presidential election due to take place on February 25.
Speaking to journalists in Bauchi on Tuesday, Bawu said his defection to PDP was to support Atiku after he and other LP leaders in the northeast noticed they could squander their votes for Obi.
He revealed that the defectors believed Atiku had the capacity to lead Nigeria.
Bawu said the LP had no structure at district, local and state level, hence their decision to defect to PDP.
He continued: “We believe the LP is not strong enough to win even one seat in the North East.
“We officially declare that all North East Labor Party executives are defecting to PDP to support Atiku.
“We don’t want to waste our votes, and we want to use this time to mobilize votes for those who have the capacity to win the election,” he insisted.
