Gani Adams asks the S’West government to fund Amotekun

Yorubaland’s Aare Ona Kakanfo Chief Gani Adams has called on Osun State Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke and his Ogun and Ekiti State counterparts Dapo Abiodun and Biodun Oyebamiji to establish the South-West Security Network, with the codename Amotekun Corps, in their respective states, to arrest increasing cases of kidnapping.

Speaking at this year’s annual Oodua Festival, held in Palace Square, Ile-Ife on Tuesday, Adams, who also serves as OPC National Coordinator, said governors in the Southwest should support Amotekun to ensure maximum security in the region. reaches.

Adams responded in response to questions bordering on the recent rise in kidnapping cases in Osun state, but also said Oyo and Ondo states provided more money for Amotekun compared to other states in the region.

He said: “They should strengthen the local organizations and the Amotekun. They complement the efforts of the police and other security services. Security is not just about the government. All hands must be on deck to ensure we have adequate security. The government should coordinate local security organizations, Amotekun and the Nigerian police to achieve a very good result.

“Oyo State supported Amotekun, mobilized up to 3,000 and equipped them and they have done a good job.

“In Oyo and Ondo states, Amotekun is doing well, but in Ekiti, Osun, and Ogun, Amotekun is not pronounced as Oyo and Ondo. Lagos state does not. We have to use what we have to achieve what we want.”

Adams also urged Southwest governors to invest in tourism to boost their internally generated revenue.
