Olawale Rasheed, the spokesman for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has said his director has not falsified any certificates.

Rasheed, in a statement obtained in Osogbo on Tuesday, said the clarification was necessary following part of the Osun Election Petitions Tribunal’s verdict alleging counterfeiting against Adeleke.

He said the public should know that Adeleke did not falsify his testimony or any other certificate, describing the claim as an attempt to damage the governor’s reputation.

The statement read in part: “We are trying to clear up a very sinister part of the Kangaroo verdict on the Osun governorship election. Governor Ademola Adeleke did not falsify any certificate or testimony. The issue of forgery is related to a mistake on school testimony that Osun carries instead of Oyo State. Osun State was part of Oyo State when Governor Adeleke completed his high school education in 1981.

“The issuing school testified to the Court in 2018 that it was their fault, which has nothing to do with Governor Adeleke. The Court ruled that there was no forgery and acquitted Governor Adeleke of any forgery.

“The public should know that Governor Adeleke did not falsify this testimony or any other certificate. This was an attempt to damage Governor Adeleke’s reputation. The president of the tribunal should explain how he arrived at his verdict when the Court of Appeal acquitted Governor Adeleke of any form of forgery.”
