New NYSC DG Takes Lead, Unveils Five Point Agenda
The newly appointed Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Y. D Ahmed, took over from Christy Uba on Monday at a handover ceremony in Abuja, promising to take the organization to greater heights.
He also unveiled his five-point agenda that focuses on safety, a good environment, strengthening stakeholder engagement, improving capacity building and deepening the impact of skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development.
He said, “I assure you that not only will I keep up the fast pace, but we will collectively take the plan to greater heights.
“This administration will be open and pay special attention to strategies that will bring the desired improvement to the overall operation of the Scheme.”
Ahmed unveiled the five-point policy line that would guide his government.
They are: “Improving the safety, well-being of Corps members and personnel to ensure optimal service to the nation;
“Providing a favorable research and development environment for the progression of the scheme;
“Strengthening stakeholder involvement in advancing the boundaries of the system;
“Improving capacity building to drive efficiency and higher business performance; and
“Deepening the impact of the program on skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development.”
Ahmed advised the plan staff to work with him to take the NYSC to higher levels of performance.
Uba assured me that the management team and entire staff will provide the new director general with the necessary cooperation to ensure his success.
“We are aware of the demanding nature of NYSC operations.
“However, our experiences, loyalty and love of work will always be used in overcoming challenges and ensuring success in all ventures,” she stated.
