PDP condemns attack on President Buhari in Kano
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) today condemned the attack on President Muhammadu Buhari in Kano State by miscreants, allegedly sponsored by All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu.
According to a statement released Monday by Debo Ologunagba,
National Publicity Secretary of the party, “this organized attack on the person of the president is outright treason and a sacrilegious attack on our national sovereignty that must be condemned by all.”
The main opposition party said it was alarmed that this attack is “part of the alleged plot by the APC presidential candidate to undermine the presidency, sow confusion, provoke violence in the country, disrupt the conduct of the 2023 general election and derail our democracy; realizing that he cannot win in a peaceful, free and fair election process.”
The PDP urged Nigerians to take note of how Governor Abdullahi Ganduje tried to curtail President Buhari’s move and even tried to dissuade him from visiting Kano State.
It added: “More troubling is the fact that the APC presidential campaign attempted to humiliate and harm President Buhari while he was fulfilling his official duties in Kano.
“It should be noted that the APC presidential candidate has shown open distaste and made inflammatory statements against President Buhari since the president’s statement, in line with democratic best practices around the world, that Nigerians should vote freely for any candidate and party of their choice in the 2023 general election.
“Asiwaju Tinubu’s apparent frustration at resorting to encouraging or condoning violence is fueled by his entitlement mindset that it is his turn to be president, despite his numerous ineligibility and disability baggage.

“Nigerians are reminded of Asiwaju Tinubu’s infamous statement in London, where he declared to his supporters that ‘political power is not served in a restaurant, it is not served à la carte’. It’s what we do; It is determined; you do it at all costs; fight for it, grab it, grab it and run with it.”
“Recently, Asiwaju Tinubu further incited his followers against President Buhari at the APC presidential meeting in Abeokuta, Ogun State, where he accused the president of undermining the election process.
“It is now clearer why the APC presidential candidate brazenly created a militia codenamed ‘the Jagaban Army’ designed to undermine our national security, unleash violence against democratic institutions and disrupt the electoral process.”
The PDP advised Tinubu to come to terms with the fact that Nigerians are determined to hold free, fair and credible elections and that “they are staunch in their choice of PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar as the next president of our country. “
“Asiwaju Tinubu should note that no threat can divert Nigerians from the path of saving and rebuilding our nation; which aspiration is embodied in Atiku Abubakar,” the statement stated.
