Foreign elements use Boko Haram to destroy Nigeria

The president, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret.), claimed in Kano state on Monday that some foreign elements are believed to be among those using Boko Haram to destroy the country.

Buhari, who made the revelation at a luncheon held in his honor at Kano Government House, said: “It is unfortunate that Boko Haram has prevented the country from tapping its resources in the Lake Chad basin.

“We have shown Nigerians and the rest of the world that we have so many natural resources.

He recalled how Boko Haram insurgents seized control of 17 local government areas in Borno State from the 27 local governments.

“Half of Yobe State was owned by Boko Haram. I suspect there is an international group that wants to destroy Nigeria, if not how can western education be haram,” he wondered.

“We are fighting for our country against the groups that are trying to destroy Nigeria, but we are very lucky. I am very happy that Nigerians have shown me support, they identified with me and I identified with them too,” he added.
