Sanwo-Olu orders investigation, condolences to victims’ families
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has ordered a thorough investigation into Sunday’s accident in Ojuelegba, which claimed eight lives.
The PUNCH reports that a 20ft container truck carrying a commercial bus fell off the Ojuelegba Bridge, crushing the victims, while only saving one of them.
Sanwo-Olu, on behalf of the people and the government, sympathized with the families of those who died in the unfortunate incident.
“The accident will be thoroughly investigated to prevent the recurrence of such tragic incidents. We are working with the Federal Ministry of Public Works and Housing to install vehicle/truck guardrails on the inside and outside of the bridge.
“We share the grief of those who lost their loved ones in the accident and pray that Almighty God will strengthen them during this difficult time.
“The government will continue to implement its transport master plan, which includes safety strategies that ensure our roads are safe,” Sanwo-Olu said in a statement from transport commissioner Dr Frederic Oladeeinde.
