Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has pledged to support the families of killed Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps officers and men.

Seven Corps personnel were ambushed and killed on January 9, 2023 along with five others from a sister security agency and local security agency.

The personnel attached to the Kaduna State Ministry of Mines were ambushed and killed by bandits while on official duty at a mining site in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

El-Rufai made the pledge while hosting NSCDC Commander General Ahmed Audi where he offered condolences to the CG on the deaths of the brave men who died on active duty.

In a statement signed by the Corps spokesman Olusola Odumosu on Sunday, the aid would help mitigate the hardships the loss of their breadwinners may have caused.

El-Rufai sympathized with the loved ones left behind and the NSCDC family and pledged continued support in terms of logistics, operational equipment and working tools to improve operational services.

The governor expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Corps, especially in protecting critical assets and infrastructure in the state, citing the mining sector as important to the growth of the country’s economy.

El-Rufai said he would direct all LGA chairpersons in the state to build more outposts for the Corps in their LGAs.

He praised the CG for bringing transformational changes to the force, including the creation of the Special Female Squad, which spearheaded the Safe Schools Initiative.

Audi thanked the governor for his generosity in remembering the bereaved.

He also credited him for more outposts he promised to build for the Corps in the state, stating that the gesture would aid in easy communications, bolstering personnel and reducing emergency response time.

He stated that the governor’s support was timely because in order to improve the operational activities of the Corps in the state, he had already approved the creation of eight additional divisional offices, three area commands and more outposts in the state.

Audi assured the Corps Governor’s determination and dedication to do his best without compromise to safeguard lives and protect critical assets and infrastructure in the state.
