New NYSC DG takes over today
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Retd.), approved the appointment of Brig. General YD Ahmed as Director General of the National Youth Service Corps.
He was set to officially take over on Monday (today) from Christy Uba, who ran the affairs of the NYSC for about three months.
Uba, the top director, was resigned after the resignation of Brig. General Mohammed Fadah.
She was the Corps’ Director of Information and Communications Technology from the time she was appointed Acting DG on 22 November 2022.
The announcement of the new substantive DG was contained in an invitation that Uba sent to our correspondent on Sunday.
The invitation tagged “New DG for NYSC” read: “I am instructed to invite you to the Acting DG Handover Ceremony to the 20th DG of NYSC, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, to be held on Monday, January 30, 2023 by 11:30 a.m. hours at the Major Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim Conference Hall, NYSC Headquarters, Maitama Abuja.”
Shortly after her appointment as an observer, Uba had promised to restore the status of the organization to make it more visible.
