Akeredolu, Mimiko Join others in honoring Jegede’s mother.

Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and former Governor Olusegun Mimiko honored People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate Eyitayo Jegede at the funeral service of his mother in Ondo State on Saturday, January 28. the St. David’s Cathedral, Ijomu, Akure.


Other politicians in the state suspended their political differences to pay final respects to Jegede’s mother, the late Mrs. Caroline Olutola Jegede, who was 96 years old when she died.


Most Rev. Simeon Borokini, the Anglican Bishop of the Diocese of Akure and Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of Ondo, said while delivering the sermon that the passage of the deceased non-aged was not a tragedy.


According to the cleric, the non-aged me lived a wonderful life, taking care of her biological and spiritual children and dedicating her life to the work of God.


Describing her as an invaluable wife who cared for her dear husband until death did them part, she said her roles in the House of God at St. David’s Cathedral, Ijomu, Akure, where her farewell service was held, were immeasurable.

Great personalities from all walks of life stormed the cathedral to pay their last respects to the late Mama Olutola in the midst of splendor.
Notable in the front roll on the congregants’ side included Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, immediately past Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, Scholar Silk Wole Olanipekun, Chief Olu Falae.

Current and former political office holders, traditional rulers and a host of personalities from all over the country.

Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, appreciated all the guests on behalf of his siblings and expressed his joy in the presence of everyone for honoring him and his siblings. the undertakers in charge carried the remains of the late Mama Olutola Jegede to her resting place in the church grounds.

She was lowered into the grave with all her children and grandchildren present at the grave.

Covering the coffin in which Mama Jegede was laid with the soil excavated from the tomb was a reality too difficult for her children and grandchildren to deal with.

But even before the children arrived from the church, the Gani Fawemi Arcade, where the reception was being prepared, was filled to the capacity of their guests.
