Authorities in New Zealand said on Saturday three people were killed and at least one is missing after Auckland, the country’s largest city, was battered by record rainfall.
In the Remuera area of the city, where a massive landslide has damaged many homes, a resident paid tribute to a neighbor who died and said he will be sadly missed.
On Friday evening, more than 15 centimeters of rain fell in some places in just three hours.
Weather bureaus said it was the wettest day on record in the city, the equivalent of a typical summer’s full rainfall.
