2023 Election: Weeks To Election, Abiodun On Thursday Calls To Iron Issues Out With Ogun Workers In Impromptu Meeting

The governor of Ogun state, Dapo Abiodun, has called an impromptu meeting with selected workers of the local governments of the state and the civil service generally.

An invitation letter which was obtained by Ogunwatch was addressed to the state Local Government Service Commission and signed by N.O Aigoro, the Head of Service, on behalf of the office of the Governor.

The meeting which is scheduled to hold at the Cultural Centre, Kutor Abeokuta Thursday at 2: 30 pm, would according to the letter, have in attendance 15 representatives from each local government area from the state and other parastatals of the civil service.

The letter partly reads: “In line with the principle of inclusiveness and participatory democracy of the present administration, His excellency, prince Dapo Abiodun will meet with civil servants at the cultural centre Kutor, Abeokuta on Thursday, 19th January 2023 at 2:30 pm.”

Meanwhile, a local Government source who our correspondent reached out to on the development, said many workers are aggrieved with this administration, stressing that the impromptu call was politically motivated as the government has paid little or no attention to the sector until when elections were at the corner.

The source who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity said that the government of the day has ignored their call for Local government autonomy.

He said: “It is obvious that the government lack empathy. They are not concerned about the affairs of the Local Government and it’s workers. I don’t know why we are not taken as priority by this adminsitration”

“Until they see civil servants as valuable entities in the state there won’t be any development in the state.”

“We have been seeking for the intervention of the state long before now over several issues affecting us but they lack empathy. If not why wait till election period before addressing our complaints? If they had done this before now, we would know they really values us.”
