BREAKING: For The First Time, Osinbajo To Attend Tinubu’s APC Presidential Campaign Rally

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has not canceled its planned presidential rally in Ilorin on January 17.

James Abiodun Faleke, Secretary of the Campaign Council, denied reports that the rally had been canceled due to President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Mauritania.

In a terse statement, Faleke said: I hereby confirm that the APC Presidential Campaign rally slated for 17/1/23 will hold as scheduled. Please be advised as such.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is expected to stand in for Buhari at the rally, according to reports.

Osinbajo will attend Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s event in Kwara for the first time since the campaign began in November.

In the APC primary in June, Osinbajo faced Tinubu. However, he failed to get the ticket, finishing third behind former transport minister Rotimi Amaechi.

Since then, there have been numerous rumors about Tinubu and Osinbajo’s strained relationship.

However, Osinbajo appeared to put an end to the rumors when he paid Tinubu a visit at his new home in Asokoro, Abuja, a few days before Christmas last year.

“President Buhari asked Osinbajo to represent him as he would not be available”, said a source at the Aso Villa on Monday night.

Uncertainty about the rally in Ilorin was fueled by a statement signed on Monday by Mr Saadu Salahu on behalf of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the APC Presidential Campaign Rally in Ilorin.

The party said it postponed the rally to allow President Muhammadu Buhari to lead the campaign, citing the president’s trip to Mauritania.

The party also stated that Buhari insisted on personally leading the party’s rally in Kwara State.

“This is in order to allow President Muhammadu Buhari to lead the campaign.

The statement reads in part: “The President is scheduled for an international engagement outside the country this week beginning from tomorrow but insists he would like to personally lead the APC Presidential Rally in Kwara State.

“We deeply regret any inconveniences the postponement might have caused our guests and all APC stakeholders,” the statement read in part.
