Ogun: PDP Berates Abiodun Over Approval Of New Transport Union

The Ogun state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) has expressed shock over the emergence and approval of a new transport union, Ogun Stations, Operations and Management Services (OSMOS), purportedly led by one Alhaji Mukaila Yaro.

PDP, in a statement signed by it’s Publicity Secretary, Asiwaju Akinloye Bankole noted that transportation sector has always enjoyed a recorded lease of peace and tranquility since the inception of the Dapo Abiodun led administration in 2019.

It however expresses dismay at the sudden approval of a parallel association, barely 6 months to the winding down of the Dapo Abiodun led administration.

“Just as the operators and other stakeholders in the transportation sector who are saddled with peaceful conducts of park operations and other related activities were shocked with the recent announcement of a new group, Ogun Stations, Operations and Management Services (OSMOS), another transportation outfit purportedly led by one Ahj. Mukaila Yaro with the clear mandate to join other subsisting approved unions and associations in the management of transportation activities across Ogun state.

“It is instructive for members of the public to note that the transportation sector has always enjoyed a recorded lease of peace and tranquility since the inception of the Dapo Abiodun led administration in 2019.

“It is about the only feasible sector which the ruling APC government seems to have managed fairly well. It is however, worrisome to see a drowning government seeking to delibrately creating a needless leadership tussle among operators in that sector.

“Just like in other sectors, Dapo Abiodun has, once again demonstrated his blatant lack of capacity to always stand by his words.

“It would be recalled that it was the same clueless government that announced the emergence of the Alhaji iyeru led park management shortly after its inauguration in May 2019; and the parks and garages have enjoyed relative peace since then.

“Why the urgent need to create a parallel association? Why the policy summersault when the administration has less than 6 months to go?

“For every right thinking resident and citizens of good conscience, the creation and announcement of a strange OSMOS by the state government is not only distasteful, it is manifestly unnecessary.

“It is a calculated attempt to distabilise transportation activities and raise “a new army of bad boys” to harass and intimidate every voice of opposition in the build up to 2023 general election.

“In recent times, it has become increasingly glaring that Dapo Abiodun has lost favour and goodwill of the good people of Ogun state. They have clearly shown strong signals of outright rejection of the Abiodun led APC government and this readily explains Mr. Governor’s needless desperation to muscle opposition into silence by recruiting a new set of army solely for prosecuting of reelection bid.

“Again, we make bold to further encourage all the security agencies, especially the Nigerian Police and Department of State Service, DSS and of course, law abiding members of the public to hold Dapo Abiodun responsible in case of any violent break down of law and order in our parks and garages as a result of this senseless development in the transportation sector.

“Ogun state does not deserve another avoidable loss of lives and property because of one man’s desperate ambition for a reelection”, the statement reads.
