BREAKING: Between Adebutu And Lawal, Court Declares Authentic PDP Governorship Candidate In Ogun

After dismissing a suit filed by Jimi Lawal for a lack of reliable and credible evidence, Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has affirmed Oladipupo Adebutu as the winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ogun State Governorship Primary.

Lawal, who ran in the PDP governorship primary election on May 25, had challenged Adebutu’s election, claiming that the PDP used an invalid delegates list to conduct the election.

Lawal had requested that the ostensible primary be canceled and a new election be held with the genuine ad hoc delegates.

Justice Ekwo, who delivered the judgment, called Lawal a “spoiler” for joining the PDP from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in March and participating in the governorship primary in May.

The court also ruled that the delegates list challenged by Lawal is the same list approved by the PDP and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and used during the party’s primaries, in which Adebutu emerged as the party’s candidate.
