PHOTOS: Simawa Roads Situation Getting Worse, Residents Seek For Ogun Government Urgent Rescue
The Simawa-Likosi communities in the Wards 13 and 10 of the Sagamu Local Government area of Ogun State has steadily grown from a rural agrarian settlement into a semi-urban and bustling towns with several commercial activities springing up in quick sessions. In the last ten years.
Simawa town particularly has gradually opened up to a barrage of developments occasioned by several factors including the opening of several estates and accepting a large spillage of Lagos population explosion.
These estates and developments have succeeded in opening up a vast sector of this hitherto rural areas to the neighbouring Lagos axis, thus ensuring unprecedented development.
Moreover, the activities of the world largest Christian denomination, the RCCG has brought a more positive dimension to the development experienced by the Simawa-Likosi axis. It’s new 3kmX3km auditorium is currently reckoned as the largest human construction the entire world.
Population has grown rapidly, occasioned by the movement of new landlords, intending landlords and tenants who have found genuine interests and greener pastures in the fast growing lands.
The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC have attested to the massive growth in the population of the Simawa-Likosi axis by increasing polling booths from the existing eight to sixteen. This is a testimony to the massive increase in the population of the communities.
However, the absence of good roads has caused a major setback for the growth and development of Simawa-Likosi axis. The communities do not have a single good road despite the growth in the population and increase of residential and commercial constructions.
The major road leading from the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway from the Lotto axis in the Obafemi-Owode LGA, single-handedly built by the Redeemed Christian Church of God about ten years ago has been badly damaged and require massive repairs.
From the Likosi end, motorists have completely abandoned the Simawa road as vehicles break down there regularly. Only motorcycles popularly called okadas manage to ply the road. When it rains, the Simawa-Likosi road becomes a hell even for okadas and pedestrians.
From the Kanuyi-Igbepa road, the Simawa-Likosi axis is completely inaccessible as it has been cut away from her mother-city; Sagamu by deep gullies and heavy pot holes on the road.
Residents of the Simawa-Likosi axis are in deep pains as they recount losses occasioned by the bad roads surrounding the entire communities and the difficulties experienced in accessing the area.
This is calling on the Government of Ogun State under His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun; mfr, to come to the rescue of the Simawa-Likosi people and prevent them from being cut off from the rest of Ogun State due to the bad road network.
As law abiding and bona-fide citizens of Ogun State, we say PLEASE COME TO OUR MACEDONIA Your”
