AAC Presidential Candidate, Sowore Gives Account Of How Publicly-Raised Campaign Funds Have Been Spent
Mr Omoyele Sowore, human rights’ activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 general elections, has given detailed account of the expenditure from public funds he solicited to fund his presidential ambition.
The Sowore Political Action Committee (SPAC) had few months ago invited Nigerians to join its team to help sponsor the presidential campaign of the human rights activist.
“You’re cordially and respectfully invited to join the “SOWORE POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE (SPAC) for the Nigerian Presidential run of Omoyele Sowore, a renowned activist, teacher, publisher, and a man of conscience and uncommon courage,” the group had said.
“It is an organization that raises money privately to influence elections or legislation, particularly at the federal level. (Commonly used in the USA).
“If you agree, we will add you to a broadcast list, you’re also to feel free to suggest those who might be willing to join. Every member is expected to donate between N50k -and N1 million between now and the general elections in February 2023.
In a detailed infograph released on Wednesday night, the Sowore revealed that the campaign organisation spent a grand total of N2,743,015.07 for its campaign activities between May and August, 2022.
“Here is our latest Campaign Account breakdown,” the activist said.
“Printing gulped N650,000 while N1.2m was spent on conveyance. Others include media logistics for N330,000, security for N200,000, party activities for N270,000.”
Among the presidential candidates, the AAC flag bearer is the only candidate at the moment to give such breakdown of expenditure from the funds raised by the public for their campaign activities.
