The Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Walid Jibrin, has resigned from his position, just as the former Senate President, Senator Adolphus Wabara, was subsequently named the acting Chairman of the Board.

Eaglesforesight reports that, Jibrin announced his resignation at the board meeting of the party in Abuja on Thursday, explaining that his decision to step down, was to ensure victory for the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and to promote unity in the party.

The National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu, while announcing the registration of Jibrin at the start of the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, affirmed that he has served meritoriously, and thanked him for years of services.

Eaglesforesight further reports that, before elevation of the former senate president, he was the secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, and would also be appointed to the presidential campaign council of the party.

Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, the National Executive Council (NEC) was ongoing and is being attended by Messrs Atiku Ayu, Wabara, Jibrin and other party chieftains and leaders, apparently to find solution to the lingering crisis.
