‎The Ijebu-East farmers has laments as Ogun State Government demolishes their farm settlements

Some farmers and settlers in the major farm settlements in Ijebu-East LG Area of Ogun State have cried out to the government for quick intervention over the demolition going on in Ajebamdele axis of the sunrise local government.

Reports reaching Eaglesforesight has it that government officials majorly from the Ministry of Forestry came along with military men and began instant demolition in the area without prior notice from the state government.

The village heads, representatives of cocoa farmers stormed Ijebu East LG secretariat today to plead for government’s intervention as regards this ugly incident.

Some of the villages affected are but not limited to the followings:

Aba paanu, Aba always, Aba atadugbose, Aba Fashola, Aba laagan, Aba temidire, Aba Oba etc.

The state government should also have it in mind that cocoa farmers residing in these demolished areas contribute more to the internally generated revenue of the state.

In the same vein, the area being demolished has the highest number of voting strength in any general elections in Ijebu East LG. The total voters registration in this area is not less than 20,000 in the last voters card registration.

If truly Gov Dapo Abiodun is preparing to return for the next political dispensation, he should do the needful.

He should also have it at the back of his mind that Ijebu East LG is politically sophisticated. For any government to be successful or fail woefully, it will start from this location government.

Perhaps, previous records of the past government in Ogun State has always revealed this trend.

This is the time for all the royal fathers, community leaders, cocoa farmers and other cash crops farmers in Ijebu East local government area to come together and reach out to Gov Dapo Abiodun to revert the ongoing demolition in the affected areas. An adage says “an injury to one is an injury to all”.

A stitch in times they says it also saves nine!
