A frontline student leader at Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Comrade Awonusi Kehinde Oluwadamilare, popularly known as KenteeJay, has formally declared his intention to contest for the position of President of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) in the forthcoming union elections.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, the student activist described his ambition as a call to service and a mission to “renew the union” while restoring the lost glory of student representation at the institution.

According to KenteeJay, his aspiration is not driven by personal recognition or titles but by a deep desire to strengthen student activism, improve welfare, and promote unity across the campus. He anchored his campaign on an ideological framework tagged RENEWAL ’26, which he said represents a roadmap for transformation, inclusivity, and accountability within TASUED’s Students’ Union.

Breaking down the RENEWAL agenda, he explained:

  • R – Revive student activism and purposeful engagement
  • E – Empower every student through impactful programs and opportunities
  • N – Nurture leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurial skills
  • E – Ensure transparency, accountability, and justice in student governance
  • W – Widen the voice of the union through inclusive representation
  • A – Advance academic welfare and social well-being
